Paris at the forefront of fashion!
An unmissable event since it began in 1973, Paris Fashion Week is THE essential week of Haute Couture fashion shows, an event that takes place twice a year. This is the opportunity for many of the world’s leading designers to reveal their latest collections through presentations, showrooms, soirées and nearly a hundred parades organised in many exceptional locations throughout the city, such as the Palais de Tokyo, the Centre Pompidou, the Palais des Beaux Arts, the Institut du Monde Arabe, the Salle Wagram and more. For a week the capital will be at the centre of the fashion world’s attention even more than usual. Following on from New York, London and Milan, the most prestigious Paris fashion houses, including Dior, Balmain, Hermès, and Chanel, and the hottest couturiers, among them Elie Saab, Vanessa Bruno, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Stella McCartney, will let us have an exciting first glimpse at their creations for the spring / summer 2018 season.
While waiting for summer, what to wear this winter? The Cler Hotel has some ideas...
Although you’ll soon be waiting for the warmer days and the opportunity to get back into your summer wardrobe, you’ll still want to look your best during the months of winter. The trends seen on the spring catwalks are certainly going to be a comfort under grey skies as there was a definite move towards a fun and colourful look. This winter we’ll be sporting vibrant hues such as silver and red, plus frills, bold tights, midi-skirts, chunky sweaters and pantsuits, along with cool accessories such as a retro hat and a maxi bag. Keeping out the chill will be sheepskin-lined aviator jackets or maxi coats with luxurious collars to wear with long gloves. On the footwear front, winter offers some surprises with the return of white boots in a very 80s spirit.
Attending a parade without an invitation...
Fashion Week is an opportunity for couture houses to present their new collections to a happy few. If you can’t get your hands on one of the gold-dust invitations to a catwalk show don’t despair; all is not lost. You can always go to the parade venue and wait in the queue. If the room isn’t filled and you’re super looking you have every chance of getting in. The organisers are generally instructed to allow entry to anyone who is dressed in an original, or even eccentric, way.
