Music in Paris, three good reasons to visit the capital this summer
Publish on Wednesday, 10 May 2017 in Entertainment
Summer 2017 in Paris will offer a melodious medley of magical musical moments! The Fête de la Musique kicks off the fun on the very first day of summer, to be followed immediately afterwards by the Solidays Festival, which will make the capital pulse from June 23rd to 25th. Finally, to bring this musical season to a close, the Cler Hotel invites you to immerse yourself in the world of the Rock en Seine Festival, scheduled at the end of August in the sublime setting of the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, for a sensational event full of surprises.
The Fête de la Musique, a great moment of sharing
On Wednesday, June 21st, 2017, in Paris and throughout all of France, thousands of concerts will mark the evening of the longest day of the year, courtesy of the 36th edition of the Fête de la Musique. Since 1982 this annual festival has celebrated musical diversity by encouraging both professional and amateur musicians to give free performances throughout the city. All genres of music can be enjoyed in bars, on street corners, in squares and parks…in fact, anywhere that a pop-up gig can be arranged. It’s a wonderful and heart-warming celebration of the universal language. Following the ‘music is stronger than anything’ theme chosen in 2016, that of 2017 is based around ‘living together in music’ and will pay tribute to the value of diverse cultures gathering together and sharing. Music inspires and brings people closer together, as this event demonstrates each year. Rock, jazz, rap, soul, funk, pop-rock, classical, electro...there will be something for everyone in every neighbourhood of Paris. Prepare to tap your feet on the pavement amidst the joyous sense of togetherness!
Solidays, a festival for a good cause
Every year in June, the Solidays Festival promotes solidarity in the fight against AIDS, with proceeds being donated to organisations fighting this terrible affliction. The event will be held, as always, at the Longchamp Racecourse. Will the 19th edition, scheduled for June 23rd to 25th, 2017, surpass the record-breaking 2016 event that attracted more than 200,000 spectators? The site can accommodate the presence of nearly 80 performers on three stages (electro, world music and street arts). The complete programme has not yet been finalised but the first participants to be confirmed are The Prodigy, Vitalic and Kungs in the electro category, La Femme and the psychedelic and progressive sounds of Archive for pop, Gaël Fay for poetry and many others, such as Ibrahim Maalouf, Flatbush Zombies, Imany... A line-up not to be missed!
Rock en Seine Festival, a giant among summer music festivals
Since its creation in 2003, the Rock en Seine Festival has gained a worldwide reputation for both its great line-ups and its magical setting. The place is the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud in the heart of the historic gardens designed by Le Nôtre, and the dates to note in your diary are August 25th to 27th. The biggest rock festival in France, Rock en Seine brings the musical summer to a close in style, with performers that blend nationalities and generations as much as sounds. The xx, P J Harvey and Franz Ferdinand are among the headliners.
