The Roland Garros – a thrilling event in the heart of Paris
The French Open has been played at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris since 1928. Now affectionately known by the stadium's name, the tournament, second of four annual Grand Slam tournaments, is one of the city's most eagerly awaited annual events. Players from all over the world welcome the opportunity to play on the iconic red clay courts, and you could be in the crowd as stars like Nadal and Sharapova defend their titles.
The Roland Garros features several categories including the men's and women's singles tournament and doubles and mixed doubles matches. Be sure to get your tickets in advance from the Roland Garros website as they're not available from the stadium during the event. The stadium is within easy reach of Hotel Cler by taxi or metro, and we'll be delighted to help with directions.
The world's top tennis seeds at the Roland Garros
All eyes will be on the Roland Garros this May as Rafael Nadal once more defends his title. Nadal broke all records when he took the trophy for an amazing 5th consecutive time in 2014, and will face stiff competition for this year's men's singles title. Be there as reigning women's champion Maria Sharapova steps out on to the red clay, or catch events like the Wheelchair Tennis tournament or the Perrier Legends' Trophy at Roland Garros 2015.
Plan a day out at the Roland Garros stadium
Enjoy thrilling moments on and off court as you explore the many attractions of one of the world's finest stadiums. Dine in style during the tournament with a choice of take away menus or buffet style meals, or enjoy a cool drink from one of the many snack stands. The stadium is also well equipped for disabled visitors, and of course it's easy to reach from Hotel Cler.
